In the first quarter, the top 5 largest markets were the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, and Taiwan respectively, among them, the spending of the U.S. and Japan experienced a double-digit revenue decline during Q1 2022, while China and South Korea were relatively stable, and Taiwan’s quarterly revenue was up 7% year-on-year.

In Q2 2022, mobile consumers were set to download more than 13.5 billion games and spend more than $21.4 billion to maintain the sector’s COVID-fueled boom, as claimed by Data.ai. With the highest growth subgenres, quarter over a quarter was poised to be: #1 RPG Games, #2 Action, and #3 Strategy.

Regionally, in Q2, China, the United States, and Japan contributed the largest consumer spending on iOS games. However, the most growth in terms of absolute volume over the quarter was in China, Japan, and Taiwan.

On Google Play, the US, Japan, and South Korea led the way during this period, Australia, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong registering the most significant quarterly increases in terms of spend volume.
